Pets are among them.

My wife and I love Jack Bauer. Not the guy from 24 (we like him, but he’s not the lovey type), but the poodle my wife and I adopted from Dogtired Ranch Small Dog Rescue almost three years ago. Many of our customers have pets they travel with that they love too. Security should be about protecting what you love.

One of the great dangers of traveling with pets is leaving them at your RV. The obvious threat is an intruder breaking in and harming your pets. The RV Security System works well to alert you to threats of that nature, allowing you to get law enforcement response quickly. But we don’t stop there. We also offer alerts for smoke, heat, and cold.

This Dual Temperature Sensor Can Save Your Pet's Life if Your A/C Fails

Protect Your Pets from The Heat – and the Cold
The less obvious threat is the danger of temperature. Pet owners have repeatedly asked us for an add on to our system that would alert them to high or low temperatures in their RV. Like us, they have heard the horror stories of generators failing in a hot climates, and animals dying as a result of the heat. We’re proud to announce that we have such an add on available.

You’re probably wondering how this works. We chose a mechanical sensor because it was the most reliable option available. Mechanical sensors have very low failure rates and don’t require a power source. If your generator fails and can’t drive your A/C, it wont’ drive a temperature sensor either.

As you can see in the picture, there are three temperature indicators. These are lowest desired temperature, actual temperature, and highest desired temperature. Most home thermostats will only kick in and send one signal at a time, which is why you have to tell it to cool or heat. Our alert thermostat monitors the temperature for both ranges, meaning you just deploy it and forget about it. The price of these is $267.00, considerably less than other similar solutions on the market for $400. These other solutions don’t provide any security, require a separate monthly plan in addition to any security plan you have, and won’t work on the road the way our system does. Please note: The dual temp sensor is wired into XT and XTO panels. We can provide a wireless solution at a slightly higher price. This is hardware made by another company. It works great, but it is not wireless like our hardware.

Whether You're in Your RV or Away From Your RV, Our Smoke Detector Will Alert You to Smoke

Protect Your Pets From Fire

Everyone familiar with RVing has seen the fridge recalls. Defective refrigerators were starting fires in RV’s. These problems have been fixed in most units, but RV Owners should still be wary of fire. Fire is incredibly dangerous in RV’s, and should be treated as such. RV Security offers a Smoke Detector that can alert you both while you are inside your RV and while you are way from your RV to a smoke producing fire.

You should never go into a burning RV to try to rescue a pet; such attempts never end well. A smoke detector works best by picking up smoldering fires before they get too large, allowing you to contact the fire department if appropriate.

An early fire detection can save the lives of your pets and your family. No fire detection can be tragic.

Our wireless smoke detectors sell for $136.00. If you have a system and plan with us, this will tie in without additional monthly charges for alerts.

The phrase “24 Hour Security Cameras” is one of the most common and effective selling points that RV, travel trailer, toy, and boat storage facilities use to sell their storage services. Often, these facilities fail to provide the level of security that customers deserve and expect.

Background on “24 Hour Security” & CCTV Systems
A company can claim to offer “24 Hour Security” by doing very little. The least effective and most common method of doing this is with gate control and a cheap CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) system. CCTV is used because it is considerably less expensive than full time guards. The footage taken by a CCTV system can be used later in court to aid in prosecuting criminals who rob or vandalize storage locations.

CCTV systems record on a “loop”, which means that whether they are using old analogue tapes or newer digital systems, they will record a certain number of hours, and then begin to write over the old footage.

Cleaning Up an RV After a Vandal/Robber

Where CCTV Systems and “24 Hour Security” Fail
Monday and Tuesday are busy days at RV Security, because Sunday and Monday have been been busy days for our future customers. This is because Friday night or Saturday night criminals broke into their RV storage facility and robbed every RV they could get into.

The first RV owner to discover a break in typically contacts the facility management, who in turn contact the police and the other victims. By the time we hear these stories, anywhere between five and twenty RVs may have been hit. Some owners are lucky and have only had televisions taken. In other cases, the RVs are completely stripped down to and including their copper wiring.

CCTV systems do little to help storage customers with what they really need: a safe storage location! A CCTV just like the one your storage facility is using will not help you interrupt the crime – it will only show you a frustrating video well after your RV has been broken into, robbed, and vandalized.

The reason is simple: a CCTV system does not work unless a person is monitoring it. Your storage facility is using a CCTV system to save money, so of course there is no person monitoring it. The only time the footage the CCTV system records will be seen is long after a crime has been committed. There is no crime interruption, and therefore no 24 hour security. The customer is completely and utterly failed.

Storage companies know this, which is why they assume no liability for property in their care!

How The RV Security System Solves The Problem
If your goal is to be able to contact law enforcement to interrupt a vandal or robber at your RV, The RV Security System works where CCTV doesn’t. In many cases, it is better than a full time guard!

Arrested!

The motion sensor on The RV Security System is activated when a criminal enters its field of vision. The RV Security System then uploads the intrusion video to our servers via it’s internal cellular modem, where it is archived and sent to your phone (via text message) and email. Not just your phone and email, but as many texts and emails as you want. We even have plans that will call up to five telephone numbers when a possible intrusion is detected!

The RV Security System is completely wireless, which means that you can use internal and external cameras. Internal cameras mount easily with a couple of screws or 3M Command Strips, and outdoor cameras can be placed in adjusted using magnetic mounts (perfect for metal bays or mounting on the RV itself) or screws.

Because you get a quick alert to an intrusion, you can contact law enforcement and save yourself the time, money, and heartache a successful break-in can cause.

For more information, please call us at (901) 922-9600. Our agents will go over the various configuration options and monthly plans offered by RV Security. We can quickly help you find the protection you need!

Customers love our out of the box packages – they are easy to set up and meet the needs of about 90% of those people contacting us.

For those of you with custom needs, our system can be configured to work with you. The premise is simple: If you have a sensor that you want to tie into our system, we can normally adapt your sensor to work with our system. We can also work with your custom installer to adapt your sensor to work with our system.

Alternately, we can help you configure our system to trigger many external devices.

I’ll give you some example of this to help you visualize some possibilities.

Scenario One:

You Love Them. Protect Them Even When You're Gone.

John and Susan love traveling around the country with their dogs. They are nervous about leaving their dogs in their RV, because they have had a generator failure in the past. The couple would like to be able to leave their dogs behind without worrying about dangerous temperatures in the RV.

The solution is simple: John and Susan work with RV Security to find a temperature sensor that can be integrated with The RV Security System. RV Security provides an off the shelf, industrial quality temperature sensor which they integrate with the system and test before shipping. John and Susan are notified of physical threats to their dogs (an intruder) and temperature increases before their dogs are at risk. Their property and family are thus made safer.

Scenario Two:

"Look at all those trailers in one place!" Traditional Video surveillance won't help at 3:00 AM. Video Alerts from the RV Security System will. We can even tie systems to many external devices of your choice.

Frank’s travel trailer has been broken into three times in the last nine months while in storage. He lives a mile away from the storage facility, which is very close to a neighborhood. Frank wants notifications when he is at home or out of town, but he also wants something to raise a ruckus at the scene. He contacts RV Security to find out if there is anyway that the system can trigger a horn system he is thinking of purchasing.

The answer is yes. RV Security recommends the customer’s installer contact them. We work with the installer to select a horn system that can be activated by a dry contact, and ship the system configured to activate the horn system when any component of the system detects an intrusion. This system still sends alerts out, but any intruder is treated to a sound show the likes of which they have not heard.

It should be noted that we have very capable outdoor strobes and sirens available, however we have found that some customers really want to put on a show!

If you have something you would like to protect in your RV, that’s what we do. Give us a call at 901-922-9600. We would love to be of service to you.

Memorial Day is almost upon us, and RVers will be filling the roads headed to their favorite places, with their favorite people.

We’ve been very thankful for strong sales of The RV Security System this year. We wish that these sales came to us on better terms though. What I mean by this is that I wish we had a larger customer base of users who contacted us prior to a break in. The large bulk of our customers approach us after their RV or Fifth Wheel has been broken into. And that honestly makes me sad.

These are the customers who understand why they need an RV Security System. They get it – we don’t have to sell them on the need. Once they understand the need, they contact us, because if you’re looking for the best system available, we have it.

You need an RV Security System because you have things that other people want in your RV. Even if you clean it out, people will think you have things they want in your RV. Desperate people will damage your RV to get to these things!

One customer who recently purchased the RV Security System told us he had been broken into twice in the last six months alone. His RV is parked at a very nice storage facility in a nice part of his town. It is well lit, and the storage company even has “24/7 Video Surveillance.” Yet this very nice man has experienced two expensive break-ins, and gotten to watch those famous, frustrating surveillance videos. Like a lot of victims we talk to, this man suffered more financial loss from damage to his RV than he did from actual theft. Cabinetry, upholstery, windows – these are all expensive to replace. These things are time-consuming to replace. Replacing them leaves you feeling like a victim.

You need an RV Security System because you want to have the chance to stop crime while it is happening. Only the RV Security System is cell based with individually self-powered components. Our system works anywhere you get a cell phone signal, and sends you a video verification of the intrusion. With that, you can contact police and get an actual response to your intrusion.

Go ahead, give us a call with questions. We’re here to help. 901-922-9600.

This will cause traditional alarm and surveillance systems to fail.

We get a lot of calls from customers looking for RV surveillance systems. Surveillance systems very popular right now because technology has progressed to the point that someone with very little technical prowess can get a lot of bang for their buck. A $1700 box from Sam’s Club and a weekend of running cabling through a house nets a homeowner a very impressive surveillance system. Higher end units even have email alerts (but they won’t show you what set them off, call, or text you).

There are two major drawbacks to such systems, and these drawbacks have been reinforced by the spring tornadoes, floods, and general bad weather we’ve had all across the US this year.

The first drawback is power consumption. Surveillance systems require power from the power company, and lots of it. If a tornado hits your local transformer or power line, your system will stop working immediately – unless you have a battery backup. Some parts of Northern Alabama were without power for two weeks due to tornadoes. A really big battery backup system would net a medium sized surveillance system an hour of backup time, tops. When that’s gone, you’re vulnerable.

The RV Security System is superior to surveillance systems because of its low power operating mode. Our system uses long lasting batteries and a very efficient design that minimizes power consumption to maximize up time. Typical residential use scenarios see a 1-4 year battery life cycle, and the system checks periodically to warn you of any dead batteries. I (Matthew) use the RV Security System to protect my home, and I use it at the offices. When Memphis had bad storms that knocked power out, I never had a moment of unprotected property due to power outages.

No other RV Security System or RV Alarm on the market operates without using your RV’s batteries. We get calls from RV owners who complain that other systems won’t even stay up for a day when their RV is in storage because of battery life issues. They’re very happy when we tell them The RV Security System stays powered up for years in storage scenarios.

The second drawback to traditional Alarm and Surveillance Systems is connectivity. In major storms, tens of thousands of buildings in an area can lose their internet connectivity. In some cases, this is due to damage to the internet providers’ systems. In other cases, the service providers lose power to their systems, just like the rest of us. When Memphis last lost power, our office’s Comcast connection was down for a week because the last service point before our building was without power.

Most surveillance systems that allow outside monitoring or alerting require a good hard wired internet connection. The RV Security System utilizes cellular technology. With fewer points of failure, we see much less down time than traditional alarm and surveillance systems. In fact, the only downtime that could occur due to a tornado would be due to a direct hit on a localized cell tower. Cell companies normally fix these quickly with a mobile cell tower. Thus, connectivity wise, The RV Security System is much more reliable than internet base systems.

Telephone based systems have a weakness The RV Security System does not have: wiring. A simple clip to a phone line renders traditional alarm systems inert. The RV Security System uses no wiring. Instead, it uses wireless connectivity with military grade encryption and connectivity.

No power use, low failure rate from network issues, and no wires to clip matter to RV owners who store their RVs, but most people who own an RV actually want to use it! The RV Security System works on the road, and the same things that make it great for use in storage make it great on the road: it won’t use your RV’s batteries and it doesn’t require a telephone or hardwired internet connection.

To close, The RV Security System is, flat out, the best security system on the market today for RV owners. We would love to help you protect your investment and memories. Please call us at 901-922-9600 today for a fast, free quote!

No one customer uses their RV in the exact same way another does, so no one customer will secure their RV in the same way as another. Usage patterns will vary, but we’ve discovered that most commonly there are three things different customers want the system to do:

Scenario One: Secure the RV Interior only. These customers are concerned about preventing and prosecuting vandalism and theft from their RV.
Most customers who purchase systems from us for this purpose have luxury RVs with interiors that would cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair. These customers also understand that the cost of damage to an interior is more than just a dollar sign. When the interior of an RV is destroyed by a thief, dollars, convenience, and innocence are taken.
Scenario Two: Secure the RV Storage Area. These Customers are concerned about their storage area only.
Customers who want to secure their storage area understand that their RV is most vulnerable when they are away from it, and want to receive alerts when they are away from their RV (while it is in storage).
Scenario Three: Secure the RV Storage Area and the RV Interior. These customers have a secure storage area, but realize that when traveling the only area that they can control is the RV interior. When they are at home base, they use their system to monitor the interior. When they are at home, they use outdoor system components to protect the exterior of their RV. When on the road, they protect the interior. This is the best of both worlds.

No matter what your philosophy on RV Security is, we offer a system that will do what you need it to. The RV Security System will send interior and exterior video alerts to your phone and/or computer, allowing you to take appropriate action. Our systems do not rely on an external power source so they won’t drain your RV’s battery. Our monthly plans include the cellular charges.Best yet, there is no wiring a tall to fool with.

If you have any questions, please, call us today at 901-922-9600.

We have had several non-profit organizations contact us recently to inquire about protecting their medical and blood collection RVs. Some are responding to actual break-ins in which they have lost equipment and medical supplies and other organizations are being proactive. The most common fear we have heard expressed is that materials stolen from a medical RV will be used by drug addicts to support their habit. Another concern is losing the ability to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.

If your organization has a medical RV on stand by for disaster response, we highly recommend your organization purchase a security system of some type.

Basic protection of a medical RV would consist of a secure fence and integration with a static blind security system. This would consist of parking your RV in a fenced area and having a traditional security company wire sensors from around the RV parking area into your building’s existing security system. This will provide a minimal layer of protection to the medical RV. This method of protection is far from perfect. Outdoor installations of traditional systems are easy to defeat with simple wire cuts and an extended power outage such as what is being experienced in Northern Alabama would cause such a system to lose power after approximately 4 hours (the most common battery backup level on traditional security systems).

Since most RV’s are stored outdoors, traditional motion based systems will yield a disproportionate amount of false alarms. Over time, this may lead the police to respond with less speed to alarms at your organization’s address. A traditional system will not protect your organization’s RV while it is on the road responding to disasters.

A better solution is The RV Security System. Our system is ideal for RV protection for several reasons.

The first reason is that it The RV Security System the only system that will protect your agency’s RV both on the road and at home. This is because our system utilizes cellular technology to send all alerts. Because of this, our system will work at your base camp and at most disaster locations.

The second reason The RV Security System is ideal for protecting medical RVs is that there is no wiring between system components. This means there is no wiring that can be clipped between system components, which makes the system more difficult to defeat and easier to deploy.

The third reason The RV Security System is ideal for protecting medical RVs is that our system has multiple alert methods that can be custom tailored to meet your agency’s needs.

Each system can be custom configured to send up to five voice alerts, and unlimited mms and email video alerts. For example, the system might be configured to call three team members on the field with the system in the event of an intrusion and two at home – while sending 16 video alerts to 8 people (both on their computer and phone) or 24 video alerts to 12 people.

For more information on how we can help your organization protect your medical RV or blood donation collection RV, please contact RV Security at 901-922-9600.
